Maybe I just need to git gut, but these *******s killed some of the fun I had with the game. These things shoot lightning, almost insta killing you and have a ton of health. The only thing I found a little annoying about this game, is the sudden difficulty spike with the introduction of those weird UFO human hybrid abominations. The size of the single player campaign is good enough. The gameplay mechanics is simple, the AI is ferocious even at lower difficulty. I remember buying Pc-magazines that had some patches for games, demos and walkthroughs of the biggest games. Return to Castle Wolfenstein is a classic and honestly a game that was ahead its time. They released a demo i played first (came from some Pc-gaming magazine). I remember playing the game at release and it was a big game back then (nearly 20 years ago).
It was worth the effort, though, you never forget that feeling when you don't give up, keep fighting and defeat your enemy :).
i was using custom 19201080 resolution, but my game was crashed when finished the level tram, too. Very thanks for your solution, it has solved for me. cfg file in main directory and load the game, it should run fine. There were no obvious websites I could visit or Youtube videos I could watch back then either, (Youtube didn't exist), so it was all a case of, 'trial and error' and I was determined that I would never use cheats, once I actually found that cheats existed, not even 'PC Gamer' magazine had been created back then either :). I'd never encountered 'stealth' mode in a game before and I couldn't get passed the map and into 'Rocket Base'. Incase someone is still having the issue / the above solution doesnt work. For me simply using alt+enter to go into windowed mode fixed the crashing issue. When I first got the game, back in 2001, I made my first trip into the 'Forest Compound' map.
